From H. B. H. Consul-General
REGE 7 JUL 13
To
Commissioner of Foreign Affairs.
Canton, May 22nd., 1913.
Limestone.
His Britannic Majesty's Consul-Ceneral presents his compli- -ments to the Commissioner of Foreign Affairs and would request information on an important article of international commerce.
He understands that there exist in the Province of Kuangtung large limestone quarries, the principal output of which used in former years to be shipped abroad. He is also given to understand that recently quarrying has ceased and he is unable to ascertain whence or from whom it can now be procured or purchased.
As certain British merchants are desrous of obtaining
supplies of this stone on an extensive scale, Mr. Jamieson would
accordingly feel obliged if the Commissioner would inform him to
whom they can address themselves so that the commercial interests of both countries may be advantaged thereby.
